R&D Engineer

Role Description:-

As a key part of the R&D department, your role would be to:-

• Support the design & development of systems & products.

• To develop simulation methods and lead the development of analytical tools.

• Design & coordinate product testing including interpreting results.

• Data analysis from a variety of sources and interpreting relevance.

• Participate and contribute to all aspects of product design and development.

 

Main Requirements:-

The ideal candidate will be qualified to a Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics,

Mathematics, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Automotive or Motorsport Engineering or other suitable discipline.

 

Full time or year out experience in the automotive field working with brakes or clutches would be an advantage

but recent graduates would be considered.

 

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite is required.

 

Good knowledge of the following software tools would be an advantage but not necessary, as training would be given to suitably qualified engineers experienced on other systems.

 

• Solidworks / Solidworks Simulation

• Matlab / Simulink

• Star-CCM+

• Altair Hyperworks

 

Good communication skills, both oral & written, are essential as well as analytical skills, autonomy and ability to work in a dynamic environment.

Student Industrial Placement Opportunities for 2018-2019.
 
We have multiple student engineer vacancies fro 2018-2019 with the following four engineering groups subject to suitability.
 
 
- Advanced Analysis.
- Race Brakes.
- Race Clutch.
- Road Brakes.
 

Description: Student Engineer

 
The content of the role differs slightly between each of the engineering groups but will include some of the following elements:
 

 

- Design of brake or clutch products for race, high performance or aftermarket road applications; comprising both 3D CAD modelling and the production of 2D engineering drawings, as well as Finite Element Analysis.

- Post-processing and analysis of results and simulation / modelling projects to aid future designs.

- Product testing; test component and fixture design, devising test procedures and analysing test and client data.

- Liaison with internal departments as well as with suppliers and customers will also be required.

 

Preferred Course:  BEng or MEng Automotive / Motorsport or Mechanical Engineering

 

Desired Skills:

- Use of CAD software.

- Matlab and CFD (Advanced Analysis).

- Data analysis.

- Organisation/project management.

Annual Salary: £17,062 pa. (£18,000 package including bonus).
